The Sad Story Of 2 Pregnant Women In Bogor Who Climbs The Roof To Avoid Flooding

JAKARTA - A resident of Rengasjajar Village, Cigudeg, Bogor Regency, West Java, Halimah (30) who is nine months pregnant is forced to climb the roof to avoid flash floods when it hits her house.

When met at her residence on Wednesday, as reported by Antara, May 19. Towards the day of her delivery, Halimah and several other residents were detained for about two hours on a roof tile while waiting for the puddle from Cidangder River to gradually recede.

However, Halimah was not the only pregnant woman who was evacuated to the top of the precarious when the flash flood event took place.

The reason is, her younger sibling who is also five months pregnant was also evacuated to the roof.

“What's worse is my sister who is five months pregnant. When she climbed onto the tile, she slipped and fell down. It is fortunate that it does not endanger the condition and the baby being conceived," said Halimah.

As is known, the incident which occurred at around 19.30 western Indonesia time on Monday, May 17 was due to the overflow of the Cidangder River. The overflowing tributary of the Cidurian River broke the river barrier so that the water entered the settlement.

The river water that soaked the settlement as high as an adult's chest then gradually receded until 22.00 western Indonesia time.

Bogor Regent, Ade Yasin noted that 473 families were affected by flash floods in three villages of Cigudeg sub-district, Bogor Regency, namely, the villages of Rengasjajar, Tegalega, and Batujajar.

"Data from the BPBD (Regional Disaster Management Agency) of 473 families consisting of 1,898 people were affected by this flash flood," he said while reviewing the flood locations in Rengasjajar Village, Cigudeg, Bogor.

According to him, although there were no casualties, 17 of them fled to the house of a relative whose house was not affected by flash floods. (KR-MFS)
