Spike In Criminal Cases In Medan, Police Arrest 87 Suspects In A Short Time
MEDAN - The Medan City Police (Polrestabes), North Sumatra, arrested at least 87 suspects out of 61 various cases for eight days or from 9-17 October 2025.
"Of the 61 cases, there are cases of street crimes, narcotics and theft of metal or iron material," said Medan Police Chief Kombes Pol Jean Calvijn Simanjuntak, Sunday, October 19.
He explained that the most cases of drug crimes were cases with 29 cases out of 36 suspects and followed by cases of theft of material or iron with 26 cases out of 42 suspects.
"Of the total cases revealed, there were four cases of robbery with six suspects," Jean was quoted as saying by ANTARA.
In addition, he added that the local police also handled two cases of violence against vulnerable groups with three suspects.
His party in the disclosure of the case confiscated evidence of 8.05 kilograms of methamphetamine, 2.60 grams of marijuana, pieces of iron and poles, rickshaws of goods, sharp weapons and a number of motorcycles.
"This disclosure is a quick response to public complaints that are restless over the rampant theft of iron, robbery, and drug trafficking in the Medan City area," he said.
