Daniel Johan Highlights The Achievement Of The Food Sector In A Year Of Prabowo's Government: Need Improvement Of Governance From Upstream To Downstream

JAKARTA - Member of Commission IV DPR RI Daniel Johan appreciated the achievements of the food and agricultural sector under the administration of President Prabowo Subianto.

According to him, in the last year, the direction of national food policy implemented by the government through the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) has shown tangible results in the field.

However, Daniel highlighted the importance of improving the national food management system as a whole, from upstream to downstream aspects.

"What must be improved and fixing in advancing agriculture is our food management system. Whether it's related to upstream to downstream," Daniel told reporters, Friday, October 17.

According to Daniel, the upstream sector must be addressed, starting from agricultural systems such as land, agricultural human resources, agricultural infrastructure. Meanwhile, downstream includes post-harvest management, food stocks, food distribution, food price monitoring, to food price stabilization.

"This is to ensure that our food can be reached by all people with good quality and quality," said the PKB legislator from the West Kalimantan I electoral district.

Daniel also emphasized the importance of implementing the Sustainable Agricultural Land Protection Act so that fertile land is maintained from the transfer of functions that are not in accordance with its designation.

"The government must carry out the law on the protection of sustainable agricultural land, especially areas that have fertile land must be maintained so that it does not transfer functions for purposes outside agriculture," he said.

Daniel emphasized that his faction in the DPR will continue to support the government's strategic steps in building national food sovereignty.

"PKB strongly supports the government's steps to prioritize agricultural development, because our basis for strength is agriculture as well as fisheries and marine as a food base for high protein," he concluded.
