KTM 990 RC R Officially Launches, Highway Superbike With DNA Racing
JAKARTA - KTM has finally revealed its newest supersport model which is ready to take to the streets, 990 RC R. This motorbike is the spiritual successor to the legendary RC8 and brings the racing spirit to a more realistic level for daily use.
In performance, 990 RC R relies on a parallel two-cylinder LC8c engine with a capacity of 947 cc directly developed from the Duke 990 platform. This engine produces a maximum power of 128.2 bhp at 9,500 rpm and a torque of 76 lb-ft at 6,750 rpm.
This figure places 990 RC R above Ducati Panigale V2 and Yamaha R9 in terms of peak power, making it one of the most powerful supersport motors in the middle class.
For frame matters, KTM builds 990 RC R with a light steel tubular chassis and a dive-cast aluminum subframe which is claimed to provide a balance between rigidity and agility.
Suspension uses a fully regulated WP Apex component. While the braking system relies on a four-piston Brembo HyPure Kaliper with 320 mm disk, similar to Ducati Panigale V4.

In terms of electronic features, 990 RC R is equipped with an 8.8-inch TFT dashboard, as well as four standard driving modes: Rain, Street, Sport, and Custom. Drivers also get four choices of advanced ABS, namely Street, Sport, Supermoto+, and Supermoto ABS.
For those who want maximum experience, KTM offers Track and Tech packages that add three extra modes, including Track mode and two additional Custom modes. KTM Global Marketing, Rian Neveling, said the launch of the model was an important step for the Austrian brand.
At KTM we love a life full of speed, and 990 RC R is a motorcycle that we have wanted to show for a long time. We know, there are motorists looking for motorbikes that can generate enthusiasm like on the circuit, but still comfortable on the highway," he said, as quoted from Visordown, Wednesday, October 15.
Interestingly, KTM has also prepared a track-only version of the 990 RC R which will start production in February 2026. Not only that, but the manufacturer also plans to launch a race event of 990 RC R Cup in Europe in the spring of 2026.
This motorbike comes in two selected colors typical of KTM, orange and black. KTM 990 RC R will be available at the official dealer at the end of November 2025 at a price of 13,499 pounds or around Rp298 million.
