BLBI Task Force Threatened To Disband, Purbaya Ready To Take Over Debt Collection

Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadive said that the Task Force for Handling State Collection Rights for the Bank Indonesia Liquidity Assistance Fund (BLBI Task Force) was likely to be dissolved, because the task force's performance had not yet achieved the expected results.

"So, if we pursue debt, we don't have to use the task force anymore, we just do it ourselves. Because it seems that the expectations to the task force are huge. Even though it seems that the realization of the recovery income obtained is not as big as the promised," he said at the KiTa State Budget Press Conference, Tuesday, October 14.

Purbaya added that his party would still evaluate the continuation of the BLBI Task Force. However, the disbandment of the task force is the most likely option to be taken.

"But I will see, if it is still useful, I will continue, if not, then no. But it seems that we tend to disband," he said.

Purbaya plans to use an internal team from the Ministry of Finance to solve the problem, without involving the Task Force.

"Later we will use a team from the Ministry of Finance to pursue it," he said.

He also emphasized that the supervision of the debt collection process of BLBI obligors will continue to run under direct coordination.

"I will monitor it. That should not cause distortion only but there is no result. I'd better shut up, I'll fix it later," he said.
