Trump's Immigrant Operation Opponent, LA Voting Official Emergency Status To Open State Assistance Faucet

JAKARTA - Los Angeles Regional Officials (LA) who act as legislative and executive branches will vote to establish a local emergency status so that they can provide assistance to LA residents who suffer financial losses due to rampant federal immigration raids targeting immigrants.

This move will allow the Los Angeles Regional Supervisory Board to provide lease relief for tenants who are in arrears of payment due to the crackdown on immigrants. Local emergency status also opens the distribution of state funds for legal assistance and other services.

Lindsey Horvath's Supervisory Office, said that if the realization of potential beneficiaries of rent relief can take advantage of themselves through an online portal that will be launched within two months

This status can also be the first step towards a temporary suspension or moratorium on eviction policies.

The unrest over evictions has been felt by property owners in LA who are said to have suffered another financial blow after an extended rental increase during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Since June 2025, the Los Angeles region has been a battleground in the aggressive immigration strategy US President Donal Trump's administration that sparked protests but was responded to by the deployment of the National Guard and Marines for more than a month.

In the immigration operation, US federal agents massively raided and gathered immigrants without legal status to be in the US from Home Depot, car wash, bus stop, and agriculture. Several US citizens have also been detained.

Horvath and Janice Hahn, members of the Los Angeles Regional Supervisory Board, said the raid had spread fears of the LA community and disrupted local business stability.

"They target families, disrupt classrooms, silence workers, and force people to choose between staying safe and staying at home," Horvath said in a statement.

According to him, establishing a local emergency status is the way we fight.
