Insistent Trump Deserves It, US Annoys Opisisi Figure Venezuelan Nobel Peace Prize 2025

JAKARTA - The United States (US) criticized the Norwegian Nobel Committee after the committee awarded the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize to Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado.

According to the White House, this is evidence of ignoring a request from US President Donald Trump.

"The Nobel Committee proves that they prioritize politics over peace," said White House Communications Director Steven Cheung on his X account, Friday, October 10.

"President Trump will continue to make peace deals, end wars, and save lives. He has a human spirit, and there will never be anyone like him who can move mountains with a strong determination," he continued.

Since returning to the White House for his second term in January, citing AFP, Trump has repeatedly emphasized that he deserves the Nobel Prize for his role in resolving various conflicts a claim observers say is exaggerated.

Trump reiterated his claim on the eve of the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize announcement, saying that his role as first-phase ceasefire intermediary in Gaza this week was the eighth war he had ended.

However, Trump added on Thursday this week: "Whatever they do is fine. I know this: I didn't do it for that, I did it because I saved a lot of lives."

Nobel Prize experts in Oslo, Norway, insisted ahead of today's announcement Friday, October 10 local time, Trump had no chance of getting it because his "America First" policy contradicts Nobel Peace as stated in Alfred Nobel's will in 1895 which created the award.
