Closed Number Plates Will Not Survive Tickets, Kakorlantas: There Is Manual And ETLE Handheld

JAKARTA - The Traffic Corps (Korlantas) of the National Police confirmed that they will take firm action against motorized vehicle users who cover their vehicle number plates to avoid electronic traffic Law Enforcement (ETLE).

"For vehicles whose license plates are closed, we can still get a ticket. It can't be done by ETLE, but there are still manual tickets and warnings," said Head of Korlantas Polri Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho in Jakarta, Antara, Thursday, October 9.

Agus emphasized that the traffic police (polantas) will still go to the field to enforce the law, even though ETLE is the main system in electronic ticketing.

We continue to evaluate this ETLE performance. If the vehicle plate is closed and cannot be captured, then the action can be done manually. There is an ETLE handle that can be brought by the traffic police, and there is a manual ticket even though the portion is small, only about 5 percent. There is also a warning," he said.

Nevertheless, Agus emphasized that law enforcement is the last step. He said that what was important for Korlantas was to provide education to the public so that traffic was orderly.

"For us, prioritizing a warning. For example, we convey, 'Mbak, be careful, complete the vehicle, all this is for safety.' So it's not just a ticket," he said.

According to Agus, traffic is the lifeblood of society and reflects the nation's culture. Therefore, traffic throughout Indonesia will continue to provide socialization and guidance so that motorists are more disciplined and respect each other on the road.

Everyone uses the way. Respect each other, respect each other. How friendly we are on the road. So, a polar smile is the main marriage," he said.
