Amid Floods Of Criticism To The DPR, Puan Praises The Tensions Of Legislators' Wives
Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, appreciates the role of the wives of DPR RI members who remain loyal to accompany their husbands in the midst of various pressures and criticisms received by the legislative body.
The wives of legislators are members of the Indonesian House of Representatives' Wives Brotherhood (PIA). According to Puan, without the support and presence of wives who also take care of their families, the members of the council will not necessarily be able to work optimally as representatives of the people.
"Gotong royong and support from PIA mothers is certainly very useful and useful for us, members of the DPR RI, and of course for her husbands in carrying out their duties," said Puan when giving a speech at the mass circumcision activity held by PIA DPR RI at the Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Antara, Thursday, October 9.
The Indonesian House of Representatives is currently carrying out a transformation to make it more open and listen to public input.
Puan assessed that the support from the family, especially the wives, played an important role in maintaining the spirit and calm of DPR RI members in carrying out the legislative, supervisory, and budget functions.
"If it is not supported by the wives, it is not supported by a partner, of course we cannot carry out our duties properly, calmly, and cannot be useful for the community," he said.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chairperson of the PIA DPR RI Raden Euis Handayani said the mass circumcision activity was held in commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of the DPR RI.
As many as 100 children from the extended family of DPR RI employees participated in the social activity. Euis, who is also the wife of the Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, said that this program is a form of PIA DPR RI's social concern.
