Government Prohibited The Construction Of Islamic Boarding Schools Without Building Permits

Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment, Muhaimin Iskandar or Cak Imin, requested that all Islamic boarding schools in Indonesia temporarily suspend the development process and have official permits in the form of building permits (PBG).

This step was taken to prevent the recurrence of incidents of the collapse of Islamic boarding schools such as what happened at the Al-Khoziny Islamic Boarding School, Sidoarjo.

"I ask all Islamic boarding schools that are building to temporarily stop because they have to have a permit. We can understand this because the Islamic boarding school is on average 100 years old, 150 years old, which in Sidoarjo is 125 years old," said Cak Imin, Tuesday, October 7.

The General Chairperson of the PKB emphasized that all Islamic boarding schools must renew their building permits. He also guaranteed that the permit processing process would be free and prohibit further construction before the permit is issued.

"We beg, we also order pesantren to improve building permits, PBG. Now this must be updated for all pesantren, building no matter how small there must be PBG," he said.

As a further step, Muhaimin formed a task force for structuring the construction of pesantren tasked with examining and auditing the condition of Islamic boarding schools throughout Indonesia.

"Later on, the ranks of this task force will conduct a check and cross check of data along with the community and local governments to be able to conduct rapid audits and countermeasures, so that there will be no more disasters," he explained.

The task force will also provide guidance and improvements to the process of building pesantren to make it safer and according to standards.

"Finally, this task force will later be in addition to auditing, providing guidance and improvement to processes and procedures. The Minister of Public Works will continue to create a team that will handle directly things that need to be handled," he concluded.
