Malaysian PM Calls Erdogan To Al-Sisi Discussion On The Release Of Gaza Flotilla Volunteers

JAKARTA - Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim contacted a number of world leaders to get support in demanding the release of Gaza volunteers and humanitarian activists, Global Sumud Flotilla.

World leaders contacted by Anwar include Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.

"As of this afternoon, I have had direct discussions with the Prime Minister of Qatar, the President of Turkey, and the President of Egypt to get their support in demanding the immediate release of Malaysian volunteers and activists who were unfairly detained," Anwar Ibrahim said in a statement in Kuala Lumpur, Thursday, October 2.

Anwar and his team also continue to communicate closely with other key partners, including with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, to urge immediate intervention without delay.

"I reiterate, as hard as possible, the atrocities and acts of aggression carried out by the Israeli regime must be stopped immediately," said Anwar.

Malaysia, said Anwar, demanded immediate and unconditional release of all detainees, and requested that humanitarian aid reach the Gaza people quickly and without obstacles.
