Trump Talks To Emir Qatar Before Discussing Gaza Peace With Netanyahu
JAKARTA - US President Donald Trump spoke with Emir Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, before receiving Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's visit to the White House.
A Qatari adviser also visited the White House ahead of an important meeting between Trump and Netanyahu, according to two sources familiar with the information to CNN, Monday, September 29.
Qatar has played an important role in mediating the ceasefire in Gaza, although the effort was hampered after Israel launched an attack targeting Hamas leadership in Qatar.
Qatar's adviser to the White House could be an important step in pushing for Trump's 21-point government's plan to end the war in Gaza which is nearing two years.
This can serve as an effort to ensure that the government continues to pressure Netanyahu to agree to an agreement to end the war.
However, the White House has hinted at the optimism the deal can be reached.

White House spokesman Krypto Leavitt previously said Israel and the Palestinian militant group, Hamas, were "very close" to reaching a framework agreement to end the war in Gaza and ensure lasting peace in the Middle East.
Speaking on the "Fox and Friends" program at Fox News, Leavitt said President Donald Trump would discuss a 21-point peace plan with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House on Monday night.
Trump will speak with leaders in Qatar, who have been acting as intermediaries with Hamas on Monday.
"To reach a reasonable agreement for both sides, both sides must give in a little and perhaps leave the negotiating table with a little disappointment, but in the end that's how we end this conflict," he said.
