Iran Executes Israel's 'One Of The Most Important Spy'
JAKARTA - Iran executed a man named Bahman Choubi-asl on Monday, Mizan's court news agency reported that the defendant was "one of Israel's most important spies in Iran".
"The main purpose of Mossad in withdrawing the defendant's cooperation is to obtain a database of government agencies and create violations at Iran's data center, besides pursuing other secondary destinations, including investigating electronic equipment import routes," Mizan said.
The Supreme Court has rejected the defendant's appeal and confirmed the death penalty on charges of "corruption on earth", he said.
Involved in a decades-long shadow war with Israel, Iran has executed many individuals accused of links to Israel's Mossad intelligence services and facilitated its operations in the country.
The Iran-Israeli conflict escalated into a direct war in June, when Israel struck various targets within Iran, including through operations relying on the deployment of Mossad's troops far within the country.
