14 Junior High School Students In Karimun Allegedly Free Nutrition Food Poisoning, Task Force Intervenes

The Regent of Karimun, Riau Islands, Ing Iskandarsyah said the Free Nutrition Eating Task Force (Satgas MBG) was investigating the cause of the alleged poisoning experienced by 14 students of SMP Negeri 2 Karimun.

"We have controlled it, we have tested the food sample laboratory. The Head of the MBG Task Force led by the Deputy Regent is investigating the source, is it true from the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG)," said Iskandarsyah in Batam, Antara, Friday, September 26.

He confirmed that as many as 14 students of SMP Negeri 2 Karimun experienced health problems such as nausea and stomach pain after eating MBG program food on Thursday, September 25.

The Karimun MBG Task Force has moved to trace the cause by taking food samples, sending them to a laboratory in Batam, and visiting the SPPG that supplies MBG at the school.

"We are investigating what the source is from the SPPG. Because the students suspected of being poisoned were 14 people, while the SPPG supplied 3,000 students," he said.

MBG SMP Negeri 2 Karimun is supplied from the kitchen of SPPG Sungai Lakam Timur 1 in Karimun Regency.

For the time being, the MBG program, which is supplied from the SPPG, has been suspended until the results of laboratory tests related to the alleged poisoning have been investigated.

"We hope that laboratory results will come out soon so that the MBG program can resume running," said Iskandarsyah.

Of the 27 SPPGs recommended by the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), 18 SPPGs have operated to serve MBG in Karimun.

With this incident, only one SPPG was temporarily suspended from its operations, while the other 17 were still serving MBG.

Meanwhile, Head of the Karimun District Health Office, Suryadi, said that 14 children who had been treated at the Tanjung Balai Health Center and Muhammad Sani Hospital had been allowed to go home.

“Alhamdulillah, semua pasien sudah dipulangkan kemarin,” kata Suryadi.
