The Woman Who Tried To Embezzle Elvis Presley's Property Was Sentenced To Four Years In Prison
JAKARTA - A woman from Missouri, United States, was sentenced to more than four years in prison after being found guilty in a fraudulent attempt to seize the legendary Elvis Presley property, Graceland.
Lisa Jeanine Findley, 54, was found guilty on charges of correspondence fraud and identity theft. The verdict was handed down after previously Findley pleaded guilty to the alleged correspondence fraud in February.
Citing NME, the public prosecutor at the trial revealed that Findley used a fictitious company, fake court documents, to a forged signature on behalf of Elvis's late daughter, Lisa Marie Presley. The goal is to hold a fictitious property sale that is an icon for Elvis fans.
Findley's action began with a false claim that Lisa Marie had taken a loan from a company called Naussany Investments in 2018 worth US$3.8 million. The company, which was later discovered to be fictitious, demanded that Graceland be a guarantee because the loan was never paid.
According to the prosecutor, Findley disguised himself with various names to run this scheme. He even threatened to confiscate Graceland and auction it off if Presley's family did not approve a settlement of 2.85 million US dollars.

The scheme, which the judge called very sophisticated and wild, was finally caught by Lisa Marie Presley's daughter, Riley Gough.
As Graceland's heir, Kough suspected that there was an element of fraud in the property sale plan. He then took legal action by filing a lawsuit in May 2024 to stop the sale.
Farugh's quick action was successful. The court immediately canceled the sale. For his actions, Findley was charged federally in August 2024. When charged with the law, Findley even tried to divert the error by claiming that a Nigerian identity thief was behind the scheme.
For information, Graceland was home to Elvis for 20 years until his death in 1977. Now, this 120-hectare property is a popular tourist destination for fans, with half a million visitors every year.
