JAKARTA - Indonesia's presence at the Arab League Emergency Summit and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Qatar as well as the meeting of President Prabowo Subianto with Emir Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, affirmed Indonesia's commitment to peace in the Middle East, said Foreign Minister Sugiono.
Speaking at the Emergency Summit of the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Doha, Qatar on Monday, the Indonesian Foreign Minister conveyed his warm greetings and sincere regret from President Prabowo Subianto, who highly appreciates the importance of this Emergency Summit and highly appreciates Qatari's leadership in its implementation.
"President Prabowo himself left for Doha three days ago, on September 12, to meet directly with His Majesty Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir Qatar," Foreign Minister Sugiono said in his speech, quoted from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website, Tuesday, September 16.
"His visit is a clear message of Indonesia's steadfast support for Qatar, following Israel's horrific and coward attacks on Doha, and reaffirming Indonesia's eternal commitment to peace in the Middle East," explained Foreign Minister Sugiono.
Indonesia condemned Israel's recent aggression against Qatar. "This aggression is a gross violation of international law, UN Charter, and the principles that underlie the establishment of the OIC," he said.
