Minister Mukhtarudin And Coordinating Minister For Human Development Cak Imin Hold Pertensuance, This Is An Agreement

JAKARTA - Minister of Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (P2MI) Mukhtarudin held a meeting with the Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment (Menko PM) Muhaimin Iskandar. They discussed cross-ministerial collaboration in strengthening the protection and placement of Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI).

The meeting of the two ministers took place at the Office of the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture, on Friday, September 12, 2025.

Minister of P2MI Mukhtarudin said that his party needed full support and synergy from the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture so that strategic programs related to Indonesian migrant workers could run optimally.

"This big work cannot be resolved alone. The Ministry of P2MI is a new ministry, so collaboration with the Coordinating Ministry for PM and other ministries and institutions is the key so that PMI protection and placement can be stronger, integrated, and have a direct impact on our workers," said Mukhtarudin, quoted on Saturday, September 13.

Coordination with the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture will focus on strengthening regulations, handling illegal placements, and increasing vocational programs to support the competence of Indonesian migrant workers.

Regarding placement, Mukhtarudin highlighted the government's target of reaching 425 thousand Indonesian migrant workers by 2025. According to him, the target must be realistic and adjusted to global economic conditions.

We continue to strive to increase safe and dignified placement. At least the achievement in 2025 can be higher than the realization in 2024, which reached 295 thousand. That way, even though the target is ambitious, we can still maintain a positive achievement trend," said Mukhtarudin.

The meeting marked the first step of more intensive collaboration between the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture and the Ministry of P2MI in realizing the governance of more secure, dignified, and competitive migrant workers.

Meanwhile, during the meeting, Deputy Minister I Christina Aryani and Deputy Minister II Dzulfikar Ahmad Tawalla were also present.
