The Death Toll Due To Bali Floods Increased To 14 People

JAKARTA - The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) stated that as many as 14 people died due to flooding in Bali. Meanwhile, hundreds of residents were reported to have fled.

"The most deaths were recorded in Denpasar City with eight people, then Gianyar Regency with three people, Jembrana with two people, and Badung with one soul," said Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information and Communication Center Abdul Muhari, Thursday, September 11.

The joint team of officers is still carrying out emergency response efforts in the form of searching for missing victims, evacuating affected residents, and controlling floods and landslides.

Based on data received by BNPB, there were two missing residents in their search to be identified in Denpasar City.

There were 562 residents forced to evacuate in a number of temporary evacuation points consisting of 327 Jembrana residents and 235 Denpasar residents.

According to Abdul, the survivors used posts and a number of public facilities such as schools, village halls, prayer rooms, and banjar as evacuation sites.

The results of the assessment of the Bali BPBD rapid reaction team found that there were more than 120 flood points on the Island of the Gods.

In this case, Denpasar City is the area with the most locations, namely 81 points, followed by Gianyar Regency 14 points, Badung 12 points, Tabanan eight points, Karangasem and Jembrana four points each, and in Klungkung the floods have an impact in Dawan District.

In addition to flooding, landslides were also reported to have occurred at 18 points, with details of 12 points in Karangasem, five points in Gianyar, and one point in Badung.

To support services in the evacuation camp, BNPB distributed assistance in the form of 200 blankets, 200 mattresses, 300 food packages, 50 family tents, two refugee tents, one rubber boat unit with an engine, and three water pump units.
