Sweet Drink Trends Can Trigger Kronis Disease At A Young Age

JAKARTA - The trend of consuming sweet drinks such as contemporary milk coffee tonia is indeed favored by young people. However, behind the delicious taste, this habit can trigger various serious health problems.

High-calorie sugar, milk, and topping content can accumulate in the body, especially if consumed every day without being balanced with a healthy lifestyle.

Internal doctor at the Bumame Clinic, Cideng Branch, Central Jakarta, Dr Gilbert Golhi, reminded the younger generation to be more careful.

"In the past, chronic diseases such as diabetes or a new heart were seen in the age of 40, now many in their 20s have been affected," said Dr Gilbert in a health discussion in Central Jakarta, as quoted by ANTARA.

He added that the trend of contemporary coffee and BOBa drinks has great potential to increase the body's burden because the calories can reach hundreds in just one glass. "The calories can be hundreds in one glass, this burdens the body if it is drunk continuously," he said.

In addition to reducing the consumption of sweet drinks, Dr Gilbert also emphasized the importance of balancing the lifestyle with physical activity at least 150 minutes per week according to WHO recommendations. According to him, exercise will not be optimal if calorie intake is much greater than the energy burned.

He also highlighted the diet of fast food, excessive portions, to rarely do health checks as a factor that increases the risk of non-communicable diseases. "If checked regularly, treatment can be faster and simpler," he said.

Furthermore, Dr. Gilbert emphasized the importance of building healthy habits from a young age, ranging from maintaining a diet, exercising regularly, to vaccination as recommended. Strong goals are key. If we are aware that from a young age, the burden of health in the future can be lighter," he said.
