Eid Al-Fitr, The Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Distributes 2.5 Tons Of Fresh Fish Package In Karawang
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) through the Center for Aquaculture Production Business Services (BLUPPB) Karawang distributed 2.5 tons of fresh fish from cultivation to as many as 1,838 families in six hamlets in Cilebar District, Karawang Regency, West Java.
"The activity was initiated by the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, Sakti Wahyu Trenggono to invite the public to continue to consume fish as a nutritious food that can strengthen the immune system in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic that is not over, by enlivening Eid with a menu of fresh fish from cultivation", said Director-General of Aquaculture KKP, Slamet Soebjakto, quoted Antara, Thursday, May 13.
Slamet added that fresh fish assistance is important, among others, because essential unsaturated fatty acids such as EPA and DHA contained in fish can increase endurance because it serves as an antioxidant to prevent stress.
The distribution of fresh fish produced as an Eid menu is a form of solidarity among human beings in the midst of the threat of the COVID-19 pandemic that has not ended.
"To invite the public to always diligently consume fish as a protein intake as well as efforts to ward off the COVID-19 virus", said Slamet.
Slamet explained that the distribution of fresh fish produced by cultivation consisting of tilapia, catfish, and bandeng fish with a total of approximately 2.5 tons is the result of collecting donations from BLUPPB Karawang employees through KPRI Graha mina cooperative so that it does not use state budget funds.
The package of fresh fish, he continued, is packaged hygienically in the hope of meeting the food needs of animal protein sources that are relatively high in value at an affordable price.
Meanwhile, the Head of BLUPPB Karawang, Ikhsan Kamil said this social service activity is a humanitarian activity from the donation of all BLUPPB Karawang employees through KPRI Graha Mina Cooperative.
Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono previously wanted people in various regions to be able to enliven Eid by improving the fish menu as their holiday dish.
As is known, KKP targets a fish consumption rate of 62.50 kg/capita/year in 2024 which was previously 56.39 kg/capita/year in 2020.
