Set National Comedy Day, Menbud Fadli Zon Hands Over Decree At The Indonesian Comedy Award
JAKARTA The 5th Indonesian Comedy Award (ANUKOM) at the RCTI studio, Kebon Jeruk, Jakarta, Wednesday, September 10, has become a new history for the Indonesian comedy world. Minister of Culture Fadli Zon submitted a Decree (SK) which set September 27 as National Comedy Day, to coincide with the birthday of maestro Bing Slamet.
"This determination coincides with the birthday of an extraordinary comedy character, multi-talented, maestro Bing Slamet," said Menbud Fadli.
According to him, the idea of National Comedy Day is an old aspiration of artists, especially the Indonesian Comedy Artists Association (PASKI). Bing Slamet was chosen because his role was not only as a comedian, but also as a singer, musician, and film actor who gave birth to great works. He inspired a lot of generations of Indonesian comedy artists," said Menbud Fadli.
This moment is also a form of state appreciation for the struggle of comedians who are not just entertaining, but also give color in national culture. The decree was handed over directly to the Chairman of PaSKI Jarwo Kwat and senior comedian Komeng.
This year's ANUKOM was guided by Praz Teguh, presenting various categories such as Favorite Comedy Artists, Elected Comics, to special awards for Life Service Comedy Artists. A number of figures attended, including Jarwo Kwat, Alfiansyah Bustami, members of PaSKI, and intergenerational comedians.
Menbud Fadli hopes that next September 27 can be the first commemoration of Indonesian Comedy Day, celebrated with artists and the public. "Hopefully it will be a momentum for the birth of a new generation of Indonesian comedians," he concluded.
