Yamaha Continues Trial Of Battery Electric Motorcycle In Indonesia
JAKARTA Yamaha continues to show its commitment in the electric vehicle segment, in line with the company's long-term vision to support the carbon neutral program and provide environmentally friendly mobility based on New and Renewable Energy (EBT).
After successfully testing the Yamaha E01 electric model in four major cities of Indonesia' Jakarta, Bandung, Bali, and Medan, Yamaha are now continuing their market studies through new projects with a swap battery or battery exchange system.
Different from the previous phase, this time Yamaha collaborated with ride sharing service providers to test the performance of battery swap electric vehicles operated by driver partners. This project aims to evaluate performance, business potential, as well as the role of electric vehicles in supporting urban mobility.
Director of PT Yamaha Indonesia Motor Mfg, Satoshi Takagi, emphasized that Yamaha, who has been present for more than 50 years in Indonesia, is always committed to presenting the best mobility solutions.
"Therefore, after successfully conducting a vehicle test with EV model E01 which has a fixed battery mechanism some time ago, currently Yamaha is entering the second phase of EV testing using a swap battery model," he said, in an official statement, Thursday, September 11.

Through collaboration with ride sharing service providers, Yamaha hopes to create a more inclusive electric vehicle ecosystem. In addition to providing easy access to mobility, this project is also expected to contribute to improving the quality of life of the community, including opening up new jobs.
To support vehicle operations, Yamaha has prepared a number of independent battery exchange stations at strategic points in the Jabodetabek area. From here, Yamaha will also study the overall handling of electric vehicle batteries, both from the upstream and downstream sides.
Yamaha's commitment to sustainability has previously received government recognition. Yamaha is listed as the only motorcycle manufacturer in Indonesia to win the 2025 GREEN PROPER Award from the Ministry of Environment, for production facilities in Jakarta and Karawang. This award is clear evidence of Yamaha's seriousness in surpassing environmental management standards in the automotive industry.
