Russian Media Links Soros And Foreign Organizations To Protests In Indonesia

JAKARTA - Billionaire George Soros and foreign organizations should be suspected of being behind the demonstrations and riots that occurred in the country last week, according to geopolitical analyst who focuses on Angelo Giuliano's international relationship with Russian media Sputnik.

Giuliano said the use of the pirate flag symbol from the anime "One Piece" indicates external influences.

Although the protests reflect real economic complaints, the symbol of the "One Piece" pirate flag used by protesters - echoing tactics in other regions - shows external influence, Giuliano told Sputnik, as quoted September 2.

In the Japanese anime, pirates waved black flags with skulls and strawtops in their fight against "tygies."

The same symbol has recently appeared in various regions in Indonesia.

Regarding the alleged existence of foreign factors in the protests last week, Giuliano then two factors that should be suspected of being behind him, Natioal Endowment for Democracy (NED), a non-governmental organization founded to promote democracy and based in the United States, and George Soros' Open Society Foundations.

"First, it could be the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), which has funded Indonesian media since the 1990s," said Giuliano.

"Secondly, George Soros' Open Society Foundations, which has been active since the 1990s with more than $8 billion worldwide and supports groups like TIFA, may also contribute," he added.

"These allegations raise questions about hidden agendas that need to be explored," he continued.

"This is related to the recent focus of the Indo-Pacific amid tensions such as the Cambodian-Thailand conflict, which hints at geopolitical motives," Giuliano said.

The situation that occurred in the country last week made President Prabowo Subianto refrain from traveling to China, to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit and the military parade "Victory Day" - in commemoration of China's 80-year victory in the Second China-Japan War and World War II - in Beijing this week.

Meanwhile, Chinese writer Trilogy and founder of the Seek Truth From Facts Foundation Jeff J.Brown linked the situation to President Prabowo's agenda that did not match the agenda of the Developed Countries Group (G7), citing the color revolution in Serbia.

"This is exactly what happened in Serbia. The G7 wants another US-backed dictator, like Suharto in the past," Brown said.

The increase in relations with China, Russia, SCO and the BRICS economic cooperation forum carried out by President Prabowo's administration is said to be incompatible with the G7 agenda.

"Indonesia is the first Southeast Asian country to join BRICS and has publicly collaborated with China in the Belt and Road Initiative," he explained.

In addition, Indonesia is the country with the eighth largest economy in the world in terms of GDP, the largest economy in ASEAN and the fourth most populous country, with nearly 300 million people.

"From the point of view of Western imperialism, all of this has become an easy target for Indonesia, a target that is very worthy of being attacked by a Western-designed color revolution," Brown said.

Domestically, the alleged foreign involvement was conveyed by former Head of the State Intelligence Agency AM Hendropriyono. Based on his experience, he considered that there were asig who rode the protest, moving their accomplices in Indonesia.

"I'm not smarter. But I'm all experienced. And this is someone playing like that. In time I can tell you his name is playing. That's from there," said Hendropriyono at the Presidential Palace Complex, Central Jakarta, Thursday, August 28.

Even so, Hendropriyono gave instructions that the figure was not a statesman or non-state actor. However, this figure has a big influence on policy making in the country they live in.

The character's goal, according to Hendropriyono, is to intend to colonize in other ways and cause democracy to become more chaotic.

"The goal is the same. We also wanted to colonize it from the start. But it's another way. In the past, we used bullets, we used bombs. If we were still silent, we would run out," said Hendropriyono.

It is known that the demonstrations highlighting the House of Representatives earlier last week turned into clashes and riots that not only occurred in the capital, but also spread to a number of areas in the country, following the death of online motorcycle taxi driver Affan Kurniawan last Thursday. Clashes and riots in other areas also caused casualties.
