Beware Of New Modes Of Autonomous Vehicle Investment Fraud, Here's How To Stay Safe
JAKARTA - In the past week, the Indonesia Cyber Crime Combat Center (IC4) team admitted to receiving a surge in reports related to fintech investment fraud.
If previously there were cases of agricultural P2P lending, now a similar mode comes with a new face, namely an invitation to invest without a driver.
In its findings, the IC4 team revealed that this mode originated from advertisements offering investment opportunities in autonomous vehicles with the lure of multiple profits only by depositing hundreds of thousands of rupiah.
In launching the action, the perpetrators assured the victim that this investment is part of a future trend. Initially, the profits really came in and could be disbursed.
After that, confidence began to grow. More and more financiers want to invest and the nominal deposit will be even greater in the hope of getting a higher value of profits.
However, this is where the trap works. After the funds get bigger, the application starts to have problems 'the disbursement process fails, the admin is difficult to contact, until the application disappears.
This mode is not a new story, it's just a new face with different packaging. They used to tell stories about agriculture, now about autonomous vehicles," the IC4 team wrote in a statement.
