Inpex Inaugurates FEED Stages Of Eternal LNG Project Blok Masela, Aims For FID Early Next Year
JAKARTA - Inpex Corporation (Inpex) through its subsidiary, Inpex Masela Ltd. inaugurated the Front End Engineering and Design (FEED) stage for the Eternal LNG Blok Masela project in Indonesia.
This inauguration marks the start of the FEED implementation after the appointment of contractors to work on four main packages, namely Subsea Umbilicals, Risers and Flowlines (SURF), Gas Export Pipeline (GEP), FLoating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) and Oshore Liquefied Natural Gas (OLNG) Plant.
Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Yuliot Tanjung said this project was an important milestone in project development in Maslea.
The reason is, this project is predicted as one of the pillars of energy security as well as the motto of driving national and regional development.
"I want to emphasize the importance of accelerating the implementation of this project through support for flexibility in procurement regulations and support for accelerating related and timely licensing for various FEED and EPC phases," said Yuliot in his remarks, Thursday, August 28.
Yuliot emphasized that the government has high hopes that this project will run on schedule and provide maximum benefits for the nation.
Yuliot added that the project with an investment value of 20.94 billion dollars is targeted to absorb 12,611 workers in the development phase and 850 workers in the operating phase.
Present at the same opportunity, the Head of SKK Migas, Djoko Siswanto, said that although it was a national strategic project (PSN) in the development process, it took a long time and was adrift.
"This project is quite delayed, which according to Japanese, is called nanakorobi yaoki, which means seven times it fell, eight times it rose," he explained.
According to him, the FEED process will be carried out within 3 months and in parallel carry out the completion of various permits and the AMDAL process which will be completed in September.
"We assume and finish it at this year's time, approximately three months as well as ENI, we can also carry out FEED for three months," explained Djoko.

Djoko also targets that this project will enter the final investment decision stage (FID) in early 2026.
"We hope it can be signed at the beginning of next year," he said.
Just so you know, the annual LNG production volume of the Abadi project is estimated at 9.5 million tons or the equivalent of more than 10 percent of Japan's annual LNG imports. This project is expected to contribute to strengthening energy security in Indonesia, Japan and other Asian countries.
