Attending APEC Cultural Jamuan, Menbud Fadli's Steps Encourages Collaboration Of Asia-Pacific Creative Industry

JAKARTA Minister of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia, Fadli Zon, attended the Cultural Association held by the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of South Korea, HE Chae Hwi-young, at the Wooyang Museum of Contemporary Art, Gyeongju, Tuesday, August 26, 2025. This event is part of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation High-Level Dialogue on Cultural & Creative Industries (APEC HLD-CCI) which highlights the role of the cultural and creative industry as a motor of regional economic growth.

During the meeting, Menbud Fadli discussed with a number of Ministers of Culture member countries APEC, including Carolina Arredondo (Chile), Fabricio Valencia (Peru), and Chinese King Sing (Malaysia). They discussed strengthening cross-border cooperation in the cultural and creative sectors for innovation as well as diplomacy.

This herbal medicine also presents leaders of the Korean entertainment industry known as Big 4: Lee Jae-sang (HYBE), JY Park (JYP Entertainment), Jang Cheol (SM Entertainment), and Yang Min-suk (YG Entertainment). Fadli had a chance to talk directly with JY Park and Lee Jae-sang, discussing opportunities for strategic collaboration to strengthen the cultural and creative industry ecosystem (Cultural & Creative Industries / CCI) in Asia-Pacific.

Recent data show that sales of Korean popular cultural content reached US$10.4 billion. Its continued effect on related sectors "starting from merchandise, concerts, tourism, fashion, cosmetics to digital platforms" reached US$9.54 billion or 92 percent of direct sales. This figure confirms the strong domino effect of the creative industry on the economy.

The Minister of Culture was accompanied by the Director General of Diplomacy, Promotion, and Cultural Cooperation, Endah Tjahjani Dwirini Retno Astuti, as well as the Expert Staff of the Minister of Economics and Industry, Anindita Kusuma.

This Cultural Association is the opening of APEC HLD-CCI which will further discuss CCI's role in economic growth, the impact of digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI), as well as opportunities for cultural cooperation for prosperity with Asia-Pacific.
