JAKARTA - The Norwegian government announced on Sunday it plans to donate around 7 billion Norwegian kronas (11,2001,760,000) to the air defense system to Ukraine.
The air defense system is one of Ukraine's expected assistance from allies in Europe to fend off Russian airstrikes.
"Together with Germany, we are now ensuring Ukraine accepts a strong air defense system," Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store said in a statement.
"Germany and Norway are working closely together to support Ukraine in its struggle to defend the country and protect civilians from Russian airstrikes," he added.
Norway and Germany are funding two Patriot systems including missiles. In addition, Norway contributed to the procurement of air defense radars from German manufacturer Hensoldt and air defense systems from Kongsberg.
