Thwart Illegal Packages From France, BNN Reveals Drugs Under The Guise Of Electric Cigarettes
JAKARTA - The Indonesian National Narcotics Agency (BNN) revealed that a new type of drug under the guise of e-cigarettes in the form of vape pods began when officers thwarted the shipment of illegal goods from Malaysia and France.
Head of BNN RI Komjen Pol. Martinus Hukom said his party managed to thwart the shipment of synthetic marijuana type MDMB 4en-PINACA 80 milliliters and a vape pods sent from Malaysia to Pandeglang, Banten.
In addition, BNN also revealed a package of drug shipments of ketamine powder weighing 3 kilograms from France to Bogor, West Java, which is suspected to be used as liquid vape material. In this case, officers also found 1,860 electric cigarette cartridges.
"The discovery of some of these cases shows that the development of new psychoactive substances that have effects such as narcotics is getting faster and is starting to massively circulate in Indonesia," said Martinus during a press conference at the BNN Office, Jakarta, Friday, which was confiscated by Antara.
Therefore, the Head of BNN said that the regulation related to new psychoactive substances used in the mixture of e-cigarettes is an urgent need to protect the public from bad effects.
On the same occasion, Acting Deputy for Eradication of BNN RI Budi Wibowo explained that BNN together with Customs and Excise managed to detect narcotics shipments from Malaysia on August 7, 2025.
"Then, the team sent or controlled delivery to the destination address in the Pandeglang area, Banten, and managed to secure two suspects, RSR and M, on August 9," he said.

Meanwhile, the case of illegal packages from France was revealed by officers on August 19, 2025. From the disclosure, BNN arrested two suspects with the initials JA and XZ.
"Officers found that there were 1,860 cartridges containing methamphetamine at the suspect XZ's house in the Bogor area. Thousands of cartridges containing these liquids will be circulated and used as vape or e-cigarette liquid," said Budi.
As a follow-up to the disclosure of the case, BNN has searched and collected various types of vape brands circulating in Indonesia. Hundreds of samples were then tested at the BNN laboratory.
"Approximately 187 samples have been released and the result, 107 of which 80 are still in the process carried out by friends in the laboratory," he said.
