DPR Asks For A Total Evaluation Of Social Protection In The Aftermath Of Toddlers Died Due To Acuteworming
JAKARTA - Member of Commission IX DPR RI, Netty Prasetiyani Aher asked for a total evaluation of social protection and health in the aftermath of the death of a toddler in Sukabumi in a body condition full of worms.
According to him, the incident that happened to a toddler named Raya was heartbreaking, and must be a stern warning for the weakness of the social protection system and basic health services.
"This incident does not occur if the function of prevention, monitoring, and social protection goes well. I really understand the disappointment of the people who think the village government and its devices are not ready to monitor the health of their citizens," said Netty, Friday, August 22.
Netty also emphasized the importance of the role of village officials, posyandu cadres, PKK, and village midwives as at the forefront of maintaining public health. He highlighted the weaknesses in the data collection system and distribution of social assistance that have not reached all poor and vulnerable people.
"There are still many poor families who are neglected from the beneficiary data, do not have population documents or health insurance, so it is difficult to access basic services during emergency conditions," said Netty.
Therefore, Netty encourages the weakness of the social protection system to be evaluated immediately, so that similar incidents do not happen again.
"This should be a serious evaluation. Social protection should not be limited to administrative programs, but is really present when the people need it, especially for poor and vulnerable families," he said.
"This incident should be an alarm for all of us, that the social and health protection system has not fully reached the small people. We must not wait for a similar tragedy to repeat itself to make improvements," continued Netty.

Netty also asked to optimize the role of posyandu and ease of access to health services, including for residents who do not have official documents.
"We must optimize the function of posyandu as an early detection center for children's health with the support of village health workers. We must also facilitate access to emergency health services, so that poor people who do not have documents can be handled immediately," he said.
