Hyundai Will Launch Ioniq 3 At The Munich Motor Show September, Fill In Affordable Electric Car Segments

Hyundai is rumored to be starting to introduce its newest car model, Ioniq 3 in less than a month and the price is estimated to be more affordable than Kona Electric but much more sophisticated.

Based on a report from Electrek, quoted on Friday, August 22, Ioniq 3 will be introduced for the first time at the Munich Motor Show in early September 2025. Meanwhile, European Hyundai CEO Xavier Martinet claimed to have told TopGear Ioniq 3 and also that Inster EVs would be cheaper, so both of them could meet the affordable EV segment with a wider market.

Hyundai Ioniq 3 is expected to be offered with a 58.3 kWh battery pack option and 81.4 kWh for WLTP coverage of around 260 and 365 miles. In contrast to Ioniq 5 to 9, Ioniq 3 is expected to use a cheaper 400V architecture, rather than 800V.

The interior is expected to feature Hyundai's latest software and a new Pleos operating system, which offers user interfaces such as smartphones.

To save costs, Hyundai will produce Ioniq 3 at its Turkish factory. Martinet wants Hyundai to be the same in the electric vehicle market as in the gasoline and hybrid-fueled vehicle market.

"The sale of electric vehicles is not an absolute competition, but competition against other producers. We want the same market share in all types of machines," he said.

Hyundai is expanding its lineup with new low-cost electric vehicles, but still plans to continue selling gasoline-powered vehicles, plug-in hybrids (PHEVs), and full electric vehicles (EVs).

Hyundai also plans to introduce a long-distance electric vehicle (EREV), which uses a gasoline engine to power its battery. So it's worth waiting for a new breakthrough from this South Korean brand.
