LMKN Commissioner Marcell Siahaan: The Cause Of Transparency From LMK To Members

JAKARTA - Marcell Siahaan rejects the notion that the National Collective Management Institute (LMKN) does not have clear data when distributing royalties collection results to the Collective Management Institute (LMK).

As an LMKN commissioner who was in the previous period and was re-inducted for the period 2025-2028, Marcell said the distribution of royalties from LMKN was clear, but problems arose when LMK distributed them to songwriters, copyright holders or related rights, who became members.

"Who said (it's not clear)? From LMKN to LMK it's clear, but indeed the problem and the culprit is transparency from LMK to members," Marcell told the media crew at the DPR/MPR RI Complex, Central Jakarta, Thursday, August 21.

Therefore, Marcell also rejected the assumption that there was no transparency in the management of the distribution of song/music royalties in Indonesia.

As I said, when asked about transparency, which one is transparency? Marcell said.

"So, indeed we must first know what the mechanism is like, not to let the problem from LMK to members but to blame LMKN," he added.

Furthermore, Marcell again rejected the assumption that the management of royalties was still done manually. He said that the collection of royalties carried out by LMKN had also been carried out digitally, especially for music concerts.

"So far, concerts have been integrated with digital, online, it can be done quickly," he concluded.
