Setya Novanto Officially Paroled From Sukamiskin Prison

JAKARTA - The former chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR), Setya Novanto alias Setnov, officially breathed free air.

Previously, Setnov served most of his sentence in the e-KTP corruption case.

Head of the Public Relations and Protocol Section of the Directorate General of Corrections, Rika Aprianti, explained that the proposal for the Setnov parole program was approved by the Ditjenpas Correctional Observer Team (TPP) Session on August 10, 2025.

The proposal is part of 1,000 fostered programs throughout Indonesia.

"On August 16, 2025, he was expelled from Sukamiskin Prison with a Conditional Program, based on the Decree of the Minister of Immigration and Corrections on August 15, 2025, No. PAS-1423 PK.05.03 of 2025," said Rika in her statement, Sunday, August 17.

Based on the decision of the Supreme Court Review (PK) Number 32/PK/Pid.Sus/2020, Setnov's sentence, which was originally 15 years old, was cut to 12 years and 6 months in prison, plus a fine of IDR 500 million and a replacement money of IDR 49.05 billion.

The Ditjenpas also ensured that Setnov had paid off the obligation to pay fines and replacement money to the state.

Of the total replacement money, Rp43.73 billion has been paid, while the remaining Rp5.3 billion has been completed according to the provisions of the KPK.

Dengan keluarnya Surat Keputusan Menteri Imigrasi dan Pemasyarakatan Nomor PAS-1423 PK.05.03 Tahun 2025, sejak 16 Agustus 2025 status Setya Novanto berubah dari narapidana menjadi klien pemasyarakatan di Balai Pemasyarakatan (Bapas) Bandung hingga 1 April 2029.

"Sejak tanggal 16 Agustus 2025 maka status Setya Novanto berubah dari narapidana menjadi Klien Pemasyarakatan pada Balai Pemasyarakatan (Bapas) Bandung, mendapatkan bimbingan dari Pembimbing Kemasyarakatan Bapas Bandung sampai tanggal 1 April 2029,” ujar Rika.

With the issuance of the Decree of the Minister of Immigration and Corrections Number PAS-1423 PK.05.03 of 2025, since August 16, 2025, Setya Novanto's status has changed from a prisoner to a correctional client at the Bandung Correctional Center (Bapas) until April 1, 2029.

"Since August 16, 2025, Setya Novanto's status has changed from a prisoner to a Correctional Client at the Bandung Correctional Center (Bapas), receiving guidance from the Bandung Fathers Penitentiary until April 1, 2029," said Rika.
