President Of SBY Affirms Don't Disturb Papua And Aceh In History Today, August 16, 2013
JAKARTA History today, 12 years ago, August 16, 2013, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) emphasized that Indonesia should not disturb and provocation about Papua and Aceh. Both are part of the Republic of Indonesia. The establishment is a fixed price for the Indonesian people.
Previously, Papua and Aceh were areas that often conflicted with the central government. Injustice is the culprit. The government's attention is only to the island of Java. This condition injures areas outside Java.
Indonesia's uneven development has become a common secret. The biggest development cake is on the island of Java, so the estuary. Areas outside Java are only a small portion. This condition triggers social jealousy.
Many are dissatisfied. However, the two areas that are really volatile are Papua and Aceh. The turmoil in Papua is getting stronger when East Timor is released. Demands for independence are increasing as welfare becomes a rare item in Papua.
Armed conflict often occurs. They asked Indonesia to release Papua with a desire to be more empowered and live on its own feet. Papua's desire to be independent has the support of the majority of countries in the South Pacific, such as Vanuatu.
The same turmoil also appeared in Aceh. Some people think Aceh is like a guest in their own country. All because the government is only focused on building Java. This condition led to the Free Aceh Movement (GAM).
GAM wants to bring Aceh free from Indonesia and independent from 1976. Armed conflict ensued and took a long time. In total from 1976 to 2005 the death toll reached 15 thousand people.
Finally both sides tried peace efforts. Diplomacy both succeeded and resulted in the Helsinki Agreement in 2005.
The aspirations of GAM and its efforts are continued, namely towards self-government for Aceh. If the GAM Commander in Passe, Sofyan Daud did not use the words of independence, apparently deliberately because he did not want to deny the contents of the Mou regarding the Aceh region, which was agreed to remain within the Republic of Indonesia. .
"But, from its contents, the meaning of self-government can be interpreted as not much different from independence. Indeed, in Mou it is not written about the disbandment of GAM, or it is implied that his life is limited. On the contrary, it can be concluded that GAM is considered to be standing continuously, the same as what was conjectured for its opponents to negotiate, namely the Indonesian government, whose existence is not questioned," wrote Tempo magazine report entitled Aceh Damai, Jakarta Ribut (2005).

Aceh since the presence of the Helsinki Agreement was no longer seen as a problem. It is different from Papua, which has a conflict. The government considers the conflict to be present because of the provocateur's actions. Something that the government considers a solver of the nation.
SBY also spoke in his state speech at the DPR-DPD plenary session at the DPR-MPR Building on August 16, 2013. SBY gave a warning to the existing provocateurs not to disturb Papua and Aceh.
He revealed that Papua and Aceh are part of Indonesia. He considered the establishment as the fixed price of the Indonesian nation. This condition must be respected by other countries, just like Indonesia, which respects other countries as well.
"In front of this noble trial, we need to once again emphasize that Aceh and Papua are an inseparable part of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia. This establishment is a fixed price for the Indonesian nation. "We should all, both at home and abroad, avoid all forms of propaganda and provocation that can disrupt the sovereignty and integrity of the territory of the Republic of Indonesia".
"So far, we have always respected the sovereignty and territorial integrity of other countries, Indonesian friendly countries. Therefore, we hope that the same principles are also applied reciprocally. Through this affirmation, I hope that all parties work actively to prevent political activities that can disrupt Indonesia's good relations with friendly countries," said SBY in order to welcome Indonesia's anniversary as quoted on the detik.com page, August 16, 2013.
