President Brushes If TNI-Polri Generals Play Illegal Mining, Minister Of State Secretary: Enforcement Is Indiscriminate

JAKARTA - Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi explained that President Prabowo Subianto's statement regarding the generals of the TNI and Polri who are involved in illegal mining is a moral message so that control is carried out against anyone indiscriminately.

After attending the MPR Annual Session at the Senayan Parliament complex, Jakarta, Friday, August 15, Prasetyo said that the President's statement needed to be interpreted broadly, not to attack certain parties.

"This message is conveyed to anyone who owns, or then, for example, termed so far, so that it protects or facilitates all these activities," said Prasetyo, confiscated by Antara.

He explained that the President's message was more encouraging all parties to work together in eradicating illegal practices, including in the mining sector.

Prasetyo also quoted the Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, as saying the need for cross-institutional cooperation and reducing the attitude of 'baper' (carrying feelings) in responding to criticism.

"This is just a message, the most important thing is as conveyed by Mrs. Puan, the Chairperson of the DPR, we have to work together, have to move on, and reduce baperan," he said.

In his speech at the MPR Annual Session, President Prabowo gave a warning to TNI and Polri generals who were proven to be involved or protecting illegal mines.

"I warn you, whether there are big people, strong people, generals from anywhere. Whether it's a general of the TNI, or a general of the police, or a former general, there is no reason, we will act on behalf of the people," said the President.

Based on the report from the authorities, said the President, there were 1,063 illegal mines in Indonesia with a potential state loss of at least Rp. 300 trillion.

"I ask for the support of all MPR and political parties to support this for the sake of the Indonesian people," he said.

Prabowo also appealed to all political parties, including the Gerindra Party he leads, to immediately report if any cadres are involved.

He asked them to become justice collaborators so that the legal process can run transparently.

"Even though you are Gerindra, I will not protect you," he said.
