President Zelensky Says There Are No Signs Russia Is Ready For Peace
JAKARTA - President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russia was preparing its troops for a new attack instead of preparing to stop the war in Ukraine.
"Today, there are reports from intelligence and military command about what Putin expects and what he is really preparing. In particular, military preparation. He is clearly not prepared for a ceasefire and ending the war," President Zelensky said in his evening address.
He added that without providing any details, Russia was moving its troops for a new operation in Ukrainian territory.
"There is no sign that Russia has received a signal to prepare for a postwar situation," he said.
President Zelensky said this after speaking with Indian and Saudi Arabia leaders on Monday as part of an effort to mobilize support for Kyiv outside Europe.
President Zelensky bagged diplomatic support from Europe and the NATO alliance on Sunday, amid fears the United States and Russian leaders might try to dictate the requirement to end the 3.5-year war at a summit in Alaska this Friday.
Meanwhile, Ukraine's military spokesman for the southern front sector Vladyslav Voloshyn told Reuters on Monday Russia was moving several of its units in the Zaporizhia region for further attacks.
In a separate statement on Monday, President Zelensky said he had spoken with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman about strengthening Ukraine's position in every peace process.
