Indonesia Together With Arab-Islamic Countries Condemns Israel's Military Full Control Plan In Gaza
JAKARTA - The Committee for Ministers of the Extraordinary Arab-Islamic Summit firmly rejected and condemned Israel's full military control plan against the Gaza Strip, Palestine, in a joint statement Saturday.
A joint statement issued by members of the Arab League and Organizations of Islamic Cooperation, including Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Turkey to Libya views Israel's announcement as a dangerous and unacceptable escalation as well as a gross violation of international law, as an effort to strengthen the occupation that is contrary to international legitimacy.
The joint statement asserted that Israel's announcement was a continuation of its serious offenses, including murder and hunger, forced relocation and annexation of Palestinian soil, as well as settlers' terrorism, which could constitute crimes that could be considered crimes against humanity.
"These actions eliminate any chance of peace, undermine regional and international efforts towards peaceful de-escalation and resolution of conflict, and exacerbate gross violations of the Palestinian people, who have faced aggression and comprehensive blockade for nearly two years affecting all aspects of life in the Gaza Strip, in addition to serious violations in the West Bank and East Jerusalem," the statement said.
Israel's Security Cabinet on Friday approved control of Gaza City, following plans to expand Israel's Defense Forces (IDF) operations. Earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu proposed military control of the entire Gaza Strip.
Considering developments deemed dangerous in Gaza, the joint statement called for some demands.
First, an immediate and thorough halt to Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip, and an end to continuing violations committed by occupation forces against civilians and civilian infrastructure in the Gaza Strip, West Bank, and East Jerusalem.
Second, demanding Israel as a occupation force to immediately and unconditionally allow the entry of large-scale humanitarian aid into Gaza, including medicines and fuel, as well as ensuring the operational freedom of international aid agencies and humanitarian organizations in accordance with international humanitarian laws and applicable principles.
Third, express support for efforts made by Egypt, Qatar, and the US to reach a ceasefire and a prisoner- hostage exchange deal.
Fourth, immediately the implementation of the Arab-Islamic reconstruction plan in the Gaza Strip, and calls for active participation in the upcoming reconstruction conference to be held in Cairo.
Fifth, affirm the rejection and condemnation of any attempt by the eviction of Palestinians from their lands in Gaza and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and affirmation of the need to maintain legal and historical status quos in Islamic and Christian holy places in Jerusalem, while acknowledging the key role of Hasyimiyah's Trust.
Sixth, a just and lasting peace can only be achieved through the implementation of a two-state solution, which guarantees the realization of an independent Palestinian State on the June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the principles of international law and the resolution of the relevant United Nations.
The joint statement further said Israel was fully responsible for the ongoing genocide and an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip.
They called on the international community, particularly permanent members of the UN Security Council, to take legal and humanitarian responsibility, and take immediate action to stop Israel's illegal aggressive policies aimed at undermining the prospect of a just and eternal peace.
The statement also requested to ensure immediate accountability for all violations committed by Israel against international law and international humanitarian law, including genocide.
"We also underline the need to implement the results of the High Level International Conference on Peaceful Resolution of Palestinian Issues and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, which was held in New York with a joint chairman by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of France, including time-bound urgent operational measures listed in the final result document to end the war in Gaza and the implementation of a political path to achieve a comprehensive peaceful settlement over the Palestinian issue and implementation of a two-state solution," the joint statement concluded.
