Turkey Urges International Pressure To Stop Israel's Plans In Gaza
Turkey on Friday called on the international community to prevent Israel's plan to "take control" the Gaza City based on a plan proposed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
"Every step taken by Netanyahu's fundamentalist government to continue genocide and expand its occupation is a major blow to global peace and security," the Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Calling Israel's move an attempt to make Gaza uninhabitable and forcibly displacing Palestinians from their lands, the ministry said Turkey "condemns strongly" Israel's decision.
Turkey emphasizes that lasting peace in the region can only be achieved through respect for international law, priority for diplomacy and protection of human rights.
Based on plans to "beat" Hamas in the Gaza Strip, Israeli soldiers "will be preparing to take control of Gaza City," Prime Minister Netanyahu's office said on Friday.
"Israel must immediately stop its war plans, agree to a ceasefire, and start negotiations for a two-state solution," Turkey said in a statement.
