Kemenkop Collaborates With BPS To Accelerate Poverty Red And White Kopdes

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Cooperatives (Kemenkop) and the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) will work together to accelerate the implementation of poverty alleviation programs carried out through the Merah Putih Village/Kelurahan Cooperative (Kopdes/Kel).

As a first step, it is necessary to synchronize village/potential village data which can then be utilized by the Kopdes/Lel Merah Putih to be explored and developed.

Minister of Cooperatives (Menkop) Budi Arie Setiadi emphasized the importance of the role of data as the basis for poverty alleviation policies that are more targeted. One of the tools for poverty alleviation is through the Red and White Kopdes / Kel which will be directed to directly target poverty pockets.

"Kopdes/Kel Merah Putih can have a real social impact such as reducing poverty, breaking the long distribution chain and others," said Budi Arie when receiving an audience with the Head of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti, quoted Thursday, August 7.

It is hoped that after the hearing, it will be followed up with an in-depth investigation regarding the synchronization of village data throughout Indonesia, including the poverty profile in the village so that it can be used by the manager of Kopdes / Kel Merah Putih in formulating the direction of business trips that are run.

"The key to the success of this program is cooperation between ministries and institutions. Communication is key," continued Budi.

Meanwhile, Head of BPS Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti emphasized that her party already has various important data related to national village profiles including a portrait of the poverty profile in the village. Based on BPS data, as of March 2025, the national poverty rate was 23.85 million or down from the September 2024 period which reached 24.06 million people.

Of that amount, if you break down more in the national extreme poverty profile, it will reach 2.38 million people or decrease by 0.40 million people by September 2024. These data can be known in detail up to the village level so that they can be used as a reference to formulate further policies.

"We see that the Kopdes/Kel Merah Putih Program has great potential to encourage village economic growth. With the data on cooperatives flowing, we will be able to record how far the Kopdes/Kel Merah Putih contribution to national economic growth is," said Amalia.

In an effort to increase data accuracy to the village level, BPS also has National Sole Social Economic Data (DTSEN) which combines social and economic data from various sources to provide a more comprehensive and integrated picture. This DTSEN can also be used as a reference or reference to determine policy directions related to efforts to alleviate extreme poverty, especially in villages.

In supporting the sustainability of the Kopdes/Kel Merah Putih program, BPS opens the opportunity to provide a special cooperative data collection application. These data can later be overlayed with data on agricultural censuses and village potential data (Podes) that have been developed and managed by BPS.
