Support ASEAN Peace Myanmar And Thailand-Kamboja War, Prabowo: We Are Not Emotional

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that Indonesia supports ASEAN to find peaceful solutions to ending the civil war in Myanmar and the armed conflict between Thailand and Cambodia.

In the Plenary Cabinet Session at the Presidential Office, the Presidential Palace of the Republic of Indonesia, Jakarta, Wednesday, August 6, President Prabowo touched on conflicts in the region, and outside areas that contributed to geopolitical turmoil and global geoeconomics.

"We see that in our own area, the Myanmar conflict continues and is not visible in the direction to resolve it peacefully, although we will continue to support ASEAN to play a role in finding peaceful solutions in our neighbors. Not to mention we see now that armed conflict between fellow ASEAN, Cambodia and Thailand members has emerged again," Prabowo said, quoted by Antara.

On the same occasion, President Prabowo assessed that the global dynamics and dynamics in the region currently facing Indonesia, especially after 10 months of President Prabowo Subianto-Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka's administration, were running more complicated than when the new government was running in the early days.

"When we started our government on October 20, the geopolitical and geoeconomic situation is not as complicated as it is now. Now, we are not only facing the effects of war everywhere, conflicts everywhere, conflicts in Ukraine, conflicts in the Middle East, Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon, Syria which are so devastating, which have claimed so many victims in front of the eyes of the world," the President said.

The President continued that there was also the India-Pakistan war, and the dynamics arose due to the determination of tariffs by the President of the United States Donald Trump to many countries, including Indonesia.

Despite the complicated geopolitical and geoeconomic situation, President Prabowo assessed that the government he leads can remain focused on working, and remain calm.

We are moving as a team. We are negotiating. We are negotiating. We are not emotional. We are not provoked. We understand that we have a big interest. The task of the Indonesian government is to protect the Indonesian people, protect our workers, and their families," the President told his staff.

President Prabowo Subianto chaired the Plenary Cabinet Session at the Presidential Office, Indonesian Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday afternoon, accompanied by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

The Plenary Cabinet session this time is the eighth time it has been held during the administration of President Prabowo and Vice President Gibran since the two officially took office on October 20, 2024.
