In 1 Hour, A Silver Man Can Earn IDR 150,000

PADANG - The Padang City Police Unit, West Sumatra, said that silver or silver people who ask for alms at major road intersections in Padang City can earn up to IDR 150,000 in one hour.

"In April 2021 we have disciplined as many as 21 silver people, based on the information collected after they were secured, it turns out that they were able to collect up to IDR 150 thousand in just one hour", said Head of Civil Service Police Unit Padang City Alfiadi in Padang, quoted by Antara, Friday, May 7.

According to him, silver men operating in Padang came from outside West Sumatra.

"With a decent income, who doesn't want to act as a silver man, three hours can get IDR 300 thousand", he said.

He appealed to the public not to give money in the form of alms or donations.

"While people still give money, it means the same as letting them continue to live on the streets", he said.

"As the market, there is a supply-demand, when there is an opportunity to get money easily, of course, they will continue to operate", continued Alfiadi.

According to him, residents can make donations to official institutions.

"In this case, city residents can participate by not making donations", he said.

"If not, then after we arrest them and then they are processed, handed over to the Social Service and they will return to the streets again, the cycle will continue", said Alfiadi.
