Emotional And Spiritual Bounds With Santri, So The Reason Suryadharma Ali's Body Was Not Buried In Kalibata
BEKASI - The family of the late Suryadharma Ali decided to bury the deceased in the Miftahul Ulum Islamic Boarding School complex, West Cikarang, Bekasi, although previously there was a request from the State Palace for the figure to be buried in the Kalibata Heroes Cemetery (TMP), South Jakarta.
"First, the family's consideration is that Pak Surya's grave is close to the Islamic boarding school he fostered," said the son-in-law of the late Rendika Harsono, at the burial location, Bekasi City, Antara, Thursday, July 31.
The funeral took place on Jalan KH Ahmad, Kampung Mariuk, Gandasari Village, not far from the residence of the deceased's wife. The location was chosen on the basis of Suryadharma Ali's emotional and spiritual closeness with the Islamic boarding school and the students he had been taking care of.
According to Rendika, the State Secretariat contacted the family on Thursday morning to convey a request for the body to be buried at the Kalibata TMP. The request was submitted because the deceased had received a sign of honor from Bintang Mahaputera Adipradana in 2013, which made him entitled to be buried in the national cemetery.
"However, after discussing, especially with the wife of the deceased, it was finally decided to remain buried in the Cikarang area Islamic boarding school," he said.
A colleague and family representative, Kholid Hidayat, confirmed the interest in the location of the deceased's funeral. He said that the final decision was made based on the request of the deceased's wife, Wardhatul Asriah, so that her husband was buried in the pesantren environment to ensure that prayers from the students continued to flow.
Earlier it was tough, there was a plan to go to Kalibata, but his wife's instincts were sharp. He wanted the deceased to be buried here, so the students prayed for. God willing, it will bring blessings to the grave," said Kholid.
Suryadharma Ali's body was previously buried at the funeral home on Jalan Cipinang Cempedak I, Jatinegara, East Jakarta, before being dispatched to Bekasi for burial.
The deceased breathed his last at Mayapada Kuningan Hospital, South Jakarta, on Thursday at 04.25 WIB. The funeral procession was solemn. Tears broke out when the body was lowered into the grave. Wardhatul Asriah and their youngest daughter, Nadia Jesica Nurul Wardani, appear to be bowing in deep sorrow.
