'This Is America' Allegedly Infringed Copyright, Donald Glover 'Childish Gambino' Gets Sued
JAKARTA - Singer Donald Glover, known by his stage name Childish Gambino, was sued by Florida rapper Kidd Wes on Thursday, May 6.
Cited from TMZ today, Friday, Kidd Wes claims that Childish Gambino's song This Is America mimics his song, Made in America. The lawsuit was filed in a New York court on May 6.
In his report, Kidd Wes also reports on Young Thug - author of This Is America, producer Ludwig Goransson, Kobalt Music, RCA Records, Sony Music, Atlantic Records, Warner Music Group, Roc Nation, Universal Music Publishing, and Warner Chappell.
Kidd Wes stated that there are similarities between the two songs. Not only rhythmically, but also the chorus and hooks that are the key to the song. He wants credit and compensation for the use of his music.
