Had Obstacled Distance, Search For Missing Fishermen In Lembata NTT Bears Results
The joint SAR team found a fisherman looking for fish in the waters of Lembata Bay, Lembata Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), which has been reported missing since Tuesday, July 22.
"The victim is a fisherman named Mansur Mitene (70) who was found dead today," said Head of the Maumere Basarnas Office Fathur Rahman when contacted from Labuan Bajo, Wednesday, as quoted by Antara.
He added that based on the chronology obtained from the Lembata Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), the victim on July 22, 2025, went to sea using a trawler in the waters of Lembata Bay or Tanjung Dulitukan.
However, it was reported that the victim had not returned to his residence in Dulitukan Village, Ile Ape District, Lembata Regency.
"Until the time it was reported to the Lembata SAR Alert Unit, the family and the local community only found the victim's canoe on the beach and asked for SAR assistance," said Fathur.

After receiving the report, he continued, the joint SAR team went straight to the scene and conducted a search for the victim.
"The search for the first day is still nil due to limited visibility at night and on the second day of search," he explained.
Furthermore, on the second day of the search, the Joint SAR Team using the main rubber Boat of the Lembata SAR Alert Unit, the BPBD Rubber Boat and fishing boats carried out a search and found the victim dead.
"The joint SAR team found the victim dead at a depth of four meters below the Tanjung Dulitukan sea surface and a distance of 100 meters from the scene," he said.
Furthermore, the victim's body was taken to the Way Pukang Lembata Health Center, Lembata Regency.
"Representing the joint SAR team in Lembata conveys deep sorrow to the families left behind, hopefully they will be given fortitude and strength and we will not forget to express our highest appreciation for the entire Joint SAR Team in carrying out SAR operations in Lembata," he said.
