IOS 27 Will Prioritize New Features For Apple's Folding IPhone

JAKARTA - Apple will soon begin development of iOS 27 with a change of focus, as the company prepares to customize its flagship operating system with their first foldable iPhone. This was reported by Mark Gurman of Bloomberg.

In Power On's latest newsletter, Gurman reports that iOS 27 will "prioritize" software features specifically designed for Apple's first-book style folding device, which is expected to be released in late 2026.

However, there is no indication in Gurman's report that regular iPhone users need to worry about the lack of interface innovations that will come to their devices next year.

Given Samsung's seven-year experience in the foldable phone market, the report also mentions a "restricted request" among some Apple users for foldable devices that don't depend on Android OS.

How this will impact sales in the US is still unclear, but Gurman believes that Apple is affected by the Chinese market, where bookstyle folding designs are preferred over flip designs.

Apple Folding IPhone Specifications

Apple's folding iPhone is expected to launch next year with an inner screen measuring about 7.8 inches and an outer screen of 5.5 inches. The device is rumored to be addressing the general problem of foldable phones, with under-sight display folding and enhanced hinge mechanisms, using titanium construction and stainless steel to increase endurance.

Apple's "iPhone Fold" is likely to be Apple's most expensive iPhone so far, with rumors that the price starts at 2,000 US dollars. Instead of Face ID, this device is expected to use Touch ID which is integrated on the side button to save internal space. The 48MP dual-lens rear camera is also likely to be one of its main features.
