Watch Out! Throwing Stones At KRL Can Be Imprisoned For Life

JAKARTA - PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia or KAI Commuter condemned the incident of throwing stones targeting KRL Commuter Line no. 1322 Jakarta-Bogor City relations.

KAI Commuter will also take legal action to provide a deterrent effect.

For your information, KRL Commuter Line no. 1322 Jakarta-Bogor City relations were stoned on Friday, July 11, at 16.05 WIB, the last train glass in the CLI-125 series cracked badly. The perpetrators were children aged 8 and 10 years.

KCI President Director, Asdo Artriviyanto, said throwing stones was a crime.

This is because this action can endanger KRL users. He also hopes that no more throwings will be aimed at KRL.

"Don't let it happen again, this is a crime. Why a crime? Because it can injure the person in it, both the officer and the passenger. And injuring it can cause defects, either temporary defects, permanent defects or death," he said at the KAI Commuter Performance Achievement and Service for Semester I 2025, in Jakarta, Monday, July 14.

Asdo emphasized that any reason from the perpetrators of throwing stones at the train could not be justified.

Because, the risk is very large, it can even lead to casualties.

"This throwing even though the statement was fun, the title was fun, but it could have caused something fatal, until he died," he said.

Therefore, Asdo also asked for the support of community leaders, both RT, RW, Kelurahan, and Subdistrict to be able to conduct socialization regarding throwing stones.

"This is the hope that it can be supported by community leaders. From RT, RW, Kelurahan, District, all elements of community leaders," said Asdo.

Life imprisonment

Similarly, KCI VP Corporate Secretary, Joni Martinus revealed, legal consequences that could await the perpetrators of throwing stones at the train.

This refers to Law Number 23 of 2007 concerning Railways.

The law strictly prohibits the act of eliminating or committing acts that cause damage and or malfunction of railway infrastructure and facilities.

In addition, in the Criminal Code (KUHP) Chapter VII concerning crimes that endanger public security for people or goods, perpetrators can be threatened with a maximum imprisonment of 15 years.

"If the act causes people to die, the President Director said earlier until someone dies when the throwing occurs, then the perpetrator is threatened with life imprisonment or a maximum of 20 years," said Joni.

For your information, the CLI-125 Commuter Line for the Jakarta-Bogor connection was hit by a cross between Cilebut Station and Bogor Station, to be precise around JPO Pasar Anyar, Bogor.

This throwing took place on Friday, July 11 at 16.05 WIB.

As a result of this throwing, the last train window on the CLI-125 Commuter Line series cracked on the left side of the train. There were no victims from the user of the incident.

Joni added that this action is very dangerous and threatens the safety of users and officers on the Commuter Line, as well as causing material losses.

"The impact of the broken glass on the CLI-125 train has resulted in the Commuter Line series being unable to operate for three days because it requires the process of repairing and replacing train doors," said Joni.
