Mayor Bobby Nasution Temporarily Closes Kesawan City Walk Medan, Which Has Become A Highlight
MEDAN - Medan Mayor Bobby Nasution temporarily closed all activities at Kesawan City Walk (KCW). A number of roads that have been closed will be reopened as usual and all traders are not allowed to sell.
This temporary closure was carried out to welcome Eid al-Fitr 1442 H and to anticipate the concentration of people in KCW, especially those who came from the Binjai, Deli Serdang and Tanah Karo areas.
This is because the North Sumatra Provincial Government has allowed people who live in Medan, Binjai, Deli Serdang and Tanah Karo to carry out their homecoming during the prohibition period for going home from 6-17 May.
"What is certain, this closure is not because KCW has violated health protocols. We make sure, our health protocol security issues continue to be tight. In fact, improvements are continuously being made, such as creating distances between traders and limiting operating hours. Even though we say it closes at 23.00 WIB, but now at 20.30 WIB we have closed the entrance to KCW and the number is limited to no more than 350 people who enter, "said Bobby Nasution quoted from the statement of Public Relations Pemko Medan, Wednesday, May 5.
Bobby Nasution, Kesawan City Walk will reopen after Eid. Bobby didn't want crowds because the Mebidangro people were arriving. Moreover, Pemko Medan limits tourist attractions in the city of Medan so that visitors are only 50 percent of capacity.
"We don't want people from Mebidangro to come and gather at KCW. So as an anticipation, we will temporarily close KCW starting tonight until the end of Lebaran, "he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Medan City Residential Area and Spatial Planning (DPKPPR) who is also the Person in Charge (PIC) of Kesawan City Walk, Benny Iskandar said the temporary closure of KCW was also carried out as an effort to encourage people to be more focused and devoted in fasting and other worship. in the last ten holy month of Ramadan.
Pemko Medan will temporarily close Kesawan City Walk (KCW) starting from Wednesday, May 5 to Thursday, May 20. All related OPDs within Pemko Medan are fully concentrated on providing services and activities from the end of Ramadan to before Eid.
During the temporary closure, the relevant OPD will evaluate and repair infrastructure so that when it re-opens, conditions for KCW will be much better and orderly. At the same time, a number of roads that have been closed from 18.00-22.00 WIB will reopen as usual.
"So it is not true that this closure was carried out because it was considered to have violated the health protocol and the Enforcement of Restrictions on Micro Community Activities (PPKM). This temporary closure is purely carried out to provide an opportunity for the community to focus on worshiping at the end of Ramadan, "said Benny.
Two days after the closure, explained Benny, the relevant OPD will conduct an evaluation regarding the implementation of KCW so far. Then, it discusses the payment system, infrastructure and re-layout and evaluates the merchant by the type of merchandise.
With this evaluation, he added, the implementation of KCW after opening will be better accompanied by strict supervision, especially the implementation of health protocols (prokes).
