UN Records 798 Murders Near Gaza Aid Locations

JAKARTA - The United Nations Human Rights Office recorded 798 murder cases at aid points managed by the US-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) and Israel as well as near humanitarian convoys managed by other aid groups including the United Nations.

The GHF uses US private security and logistics companies to deliver supplies to Gaza, largely bypassing a UN-led system that Israel says has allowed militants to divert aid.

The United Nations called the plan "unsafe" and violated humanitarian imparity rules.

"As of July 7, we have recorded 798 killings, including 615 in the vicinity of the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, and 183 possible on the path of aid convoys," OHCHR spokesman Ravina Shamdasani told reporters in Geneva.

The GHF began distributing food packages in Gaza in late May and has repeatedly denied any incidents at its location.
