BASAIbu Program Wins WSIS Prizes 2025, Preserves Regional Language Through Technology
JAKARTA - The BASAUH Program won the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Prizes 2025 for the category Cultural Diversity and Identity, Linguistic Diversity, and Local Content.
This program is considered successful in strengthening the capacity, involvement, and role of the younger generation in public issues using regional languages in the digital space.
According to the Head of the International Institutional Center for the Secretariat General of the Ministry of Communication and Digital Ichwan Makmur Nasution, BASAUbu is a positive example of using digital space to preserve culture.
Not only BASAIbu, the initiative carried by the Ministry of Communication and Industry, namely the "ASEAN Guideline on Management of Government Information in Combating Fake News and Disinformation in The Media" project also received an award as a Champion in the media category.

Previously, on April 16, 2025, the Deputy Minister of Communication and Trade, Nezar Patria, introduced 12 initiatives and innovations that became a nominee to the public.
According to Nezar, Indonesia has a high capacity and commitment to utilizing ICT to answer a number of problems in society and support sustainable development.
"WSIS Prizes is not only an award event, but also a form of global recognition of good practices in digital transformation. Indonesia's active participation shows that we are not only users of technology, but also creators of digital solutions that have an impact and meaning," he concluded.
