Apart From TikTok, ByteDance Develops CapCut Applications Especially For US Users

JAKARTA TikTok isn't the only app affected by divestment rules in the US. Several other applications managed by ByteDance will also be banned in the country, one of which is CapCut.

Under a law designed last year, ByteDance must release TikTok and other assets in the country. The company continues to be urged by the local government to sell its assets. This pressure is also supported by US President Donald Trump.

This rule needs to be obeyed so that TikTok, CapCut, and other platforms can continue to operate in the US. If divestment is not carried out until the rules apply, all platforms under the auspices of ByteDance will be blocked by the US government.

To deal with these rules, noted a Business Insider report, the Chinese company will move users in the US to a new app. ByteDance will develop a video editing app designed to replace CapCut.

This move shows that ByteDance is also trying to keep CapCut in the US. The reason is, this editing application has many users and is integrated directly with its vertical video application, namely TikTok.

Currently, CapCut has been downloaded more than a billion times on the Google Play Store. The app also ranks the top in the category of video applicability on the US App Store. Thanks to its popularity, this app is able to outperform Instagram and YouTube.

Apart from CapCut, ByteDance is also reportedly developing a Teerbaru version of TikTok. It is not yet known whether the appearance of the application will be made as similar as possible to the original application. In addition, it is not yet known whether ByteDance will create other special US applications for Lemon8 and Gauth.
