Minister Of Transportation, Chairman Of The House Of Representatives, Traffic Police Monitor Trans Java Toll Road By Helicopter

JAKARTA - The Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi together with the Chairman of the House of Representatives (DPR) Puan Maharani, Head of Traffic Police of the National Police, Inspector General Istiono, directly monitor the flow of vehicle traffic on the Trans Java Toll Road. Monitoring is carried out by boarding a helicopter.

After monitoring, the Minister of Transportation and his entourage headed to the Cirebon Police to conduct a coordination meeting for the transportation control post readiness.

In his presentation, Budi Karya said there is a need to be vigilant about potential travelers, especially users of land transportation, private cars, and motorbikes.

"We will start this effort by increasing awareness, especially for travelers using the land route", he said as quoted by Antara, Wednesday, May 5.

The Minister of Transportation asked that the established collaboration, supervision, and solidity be continuously improved. He also hopes that the efforts that will be carried out can run effectively.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the DPR Puan Maharani emphasized that collaboration and solidity with related institutions must be real and implemented in the field.

"Do not let the officers in the field disagree with what is being done. Of course, we do not want any bad precedents for the policies that have been issued", said Puan.

Puan also appreciated the performance of the officers who had caught illegal travel. Even so, he asked that law enforcement efforts be carried out in a humanist way.

"It must be flexible, if we do it hard then the public will not respect the officers", she said.

Puan asked the officers and the community to equalize the perception that the policy of eliminating homecoming was carried out so that the pandemic would end soon and the joy of Eid was maintained.

Then, the Police Traffic Command Inspector General Istiono conveyed that Operation Ketupat 2021 would be held for 12 days, from May 6 to 17, 2021.

There is 155.000 joint personnel consisting of 90.502 Police personnel and 11.533 TNI personnel as well as 52.880 personnel from related agencies who are deployed in  Operation Ketupat.

In this operation, said Istiono, the focus that was included in the priority of the National Police was preventing COVID-19 through isolation and enforcement of health protocols.

"Our priority is humane preventive measures so that people comply with the health program, carry out law enforcement the last resort to the individuals who created the new COVID-19 cluster", said Istiono.

The lockdowns in Operation Ketupat 2021 will be carried out in 381 isolation posts from Lampung to Bali.
